Board of Directors
Karen Aaronson, Founder, President and Treasurer
Ms. Aaronson joined the board in 2010. In 2008 and 2009, she founded the triathlon teams, Team Lyons and Tri Team for Diabetes, respectively. Under her leadership, the teams have engaged in very successful fundraising campaigns benefiting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Prior to taking on her current role, she enjoyed a long career in finance and human resources in the technology sector. Ms. Aaronson holds a BA in Business Management from St. Mary’s College and a BA in Psychology from California State University.
Michelle D’Albero, Vice President
Ms. D’Albero joined the board in 2010. She is an attorney with 13 years of combined management and legal experience in the financial services industry. She currently serves as in house counsel for Sun Life Financial in Wellesley, Massachusetts. Ms. D’Albero holds a BA from Simmons College and a JD, magna cum laude, from New England School of Law.
Joanne Hooker, Secretary
Ms. Hooker joined the board in 2010. Ms. Hooker has over 10 years of marketing management experience, working in both the non-profit and corporate settings. She has served on both the boards of her children’s preschool and elementary schools, where she has provided leadership with fundraising and community service initiatives. She is an avid athlete, who has completed several marathons and triathlons, and in her youth was a ranked ski racer and tennis player. Ms. Hooker has a BS in psychology from Tufts University and an MBA from Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business.
Michael O’Horo, Vice President
Mr. O'Horo joined the board in 2010. Mr. O’Horo has over 15 years in IT sales and marketing experience in the healthcare industry and non-profit sectors. He has a BS in Finance from Boston College and is currently pursuing an MBA program at Babson College. He was very close friends with Joe Lyons at both of these colleges and shares his passion for finding a cure for type 1 diabetes. He has secured sponsorships and completed numerous triathlons for children’s causes such as JDRF, Children's Hospital Boston, and Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
